Hair styling can really turn a look from blah, to wow!
But what are the most requested wedding hair styles?
The following is a list of the most popular wedding hair styles we get asked to do. Keep in mind though, the names for each hair style may differ between stylists.
Soft wispy curls
Clustered low against the neck. This can be teamed with a swept fringe, or a pulled back soft quiff. Modern, but still timeless.
Romantic curly side sweep
This look is great if you can’t choose between having an up-style, or a down style.
Great for one shoulder, a-symmetrical, or strapless dresses.
Curled side swept bun

It’s a soft and romantic, classic style that you can see from the front in photos. This also looks great and is super popular at the back too. And if you prefer, it doesn’t have to be swept to the side.
High curled bun with a deep swept fringe
Add some twists and loose hair around the face and this makes for a gorgeous classic hair style.
Half up and half down with cascading curls
This gives you that beautiful mix of both up styling and down styling, while getting the hair off you face, and still having that feminine length and fullness at the back. Add some twists, or braids for more texture and detailing.
Natural hair Clip in hair extensions are a great idea if you don’t have this much natural length or fullness.
Victory Rolls
The classic 1940’s hair style. If the 40’s Pin Up style trend is your thing, then look no further than the good old Victory roll. Add a fascinator and bob’s your uncle! Absolutely stunning and classic.
Classic Chignon
If smooth is more your taste, this style rarely disappoints. A low chignon with softly twisted sides with either a swept side fringe, or a centre part swept fringe or bangs.
Hollywood Wave

If you are more comfortable with a down style, this the Hollywood wave. The second picture has been pinned on one side with a diamontie clip, but whether you want it all down, or partially clipped is up to you.
Generally not great for beach weddings, due the wind throwing the hair around and often messing up lippy. Keep in mind though, this look is quite reliant on whether the hair will hold the wave. No matter how much product you may have, some hair, like my own, just hates holding curls or waves, so sadly, this style is not ideal for me.
Adding a braid
Braids are a very popular way of adding texture to a style and can be added to so many different hair styles.
So there you have a few of my most requested wedding hair styles. It’s also good to keep in mind that your hair will help to determine what will and won’t work for you. If you have short, damaged hair, it may not be possible to have the long, full cascading curls of a half up, or a down style. Saying that, there are often options like clip in hair extensions, donuts, and sausages to help bulk up certain styles, if the hair is just not enough. These options can be discussed during a wedding hair and makeup trial.
When choosing your hair style, have a chat with your stylist. They should be able to tell you whether a design will suit your hair or not. But don’t be dis-heartened if your first choice is not the perfect one, as there are endless stunning styles out there that will be perfect for your wedding.
